About Us

Who are we?

EC4SDF is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for climate justice. Established in 2017 as GEMEZA—named after the sycamore tree depicted in ancient Egyptian temples—it began as an initiative focused on empowering younger generations, particularly those from Generations Z and Alpha. Over the years, EC4SDF has evolved significantly, gaining recognition for its expertise in climate change and sustainable development, enhancing local communities' livelihoods through participatory and holistic approaches, and leveraging libraries as essential community hubs to further its mission and advocacy efforts.

In 2022, GEMEZA was officially registered under the Ministry of Social Solidarity as a non-profit organization (Registration No. 11485 for 2022, under Law No. 149 of 2019) and adopted the new name Earth’s Climate for Sustainable Development Foundation (EC4SDF). GEMEZA was subsequently incorporated as a specialized program within EC4SDF, dedicated to climate justice with a particular focus on serving children.

Through its national, regional, and international advocacy for climate action and sustainable development, EC4SDF has earned UNFCCC “Observer” status at COP27 and received recognition and accreditation from esteemed organizations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Climate Action Network (CAN), the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED), and the Arab Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations (AFNGO).

EC4SDF has notably supported the Ministry of Environment’s climate change negotiation capacity-building program, training 35 NGOs with UNFCCC COP27 observer status on a comprehensive range of negotiation topics. Additionally, the organization has contributed to achieving three Guinness World Records through the “Ride to 2030” initiative, specifically with the “Ride to COP27,” “Ride to COP28,” and the “Ride to COP29.”

Our story is far from over. With each new milestone, we strengthen our commitment to a sustainable future, with more achievements and impactful initiatives ahead as we continue to drive change and inspire collective action for climate justice and community resilience.
